Volunteering

Something for Everyone
Volunteering brings all kinds of opportunities.  It broadens your experience and boosts your confidence.  You will learn new skills through supervision, support and accredited training and you will help others to do the same. It’s also a chance to be part of a team that makes a real difference to people’s lives.

Do what you want, when you want.
Whatever your age we would like you to join us in helping others. What you choose to do depends entirely on your own interests and how much time you have to spare.  Many volunteers give up their time on a regular basis.  Others help out occasionally whenever they have time.  Whatever you choose to do, you’ll be making a positive change in your community.

Youth

Participation is Key
The underlying philosophy of youth work at North Down YMCA is to start from where young people are and to work together on what is important to them in ways that are inclusive and participatory. One of the pivotal beliefs put into practice in North Down YMCA is that young people are able to achieve a lot more than they are usually asked or expected to. Young people are included in the design, planning and delivery of projects.

For us, youth work is not just about activity, as informal educators the team use a range of formal, informal, individual engagement and group work to help young people develop, take responsibility and achieve their potential.
